The next episode is already being written.
Hip-Hop has always been a technology story. Two turntables and a mixer. A drum machine bought secondhand. A sampler used in a way its makers never intended. A cassette dub passed hand to hand. Every generation took the tools available and made something the tools were not built for.
The young people in Los Angeles right now have more creative power in a laptop than the founders of this culture had in an entire studio. What they need is not permission. It is access, mentorship, and someone who takes their work seriously.
